Indian para-athletes created a new benchmark by winning 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver and six bronze, making Tokyo Paralympics 2020 country’s best ever campaign by finishing 24th in the overall tally.
The remarkable campaign totalled India’s medal to 31, including nine gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze.
India started its Paralympics journey in 1960 and have competed in 11 editions till date. The Tokyo 2020 turned out to be the best-ever edition for the country.
The Indian team flagged off its Tokyo Paralympics campaign with 54 athletes across nine para sports including – Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Canoeing, Shooting, Swimming, Powerlifting, Table Tennis and Taekwondo.
